The NAV has struck against companies supplying ventilators, an international arrest warrant has been issued against a leader.
The NAV reported that leaders of a criminal organization secured contracts for ventilators and masks during the pandemic, resulting in significant financial losses for the state. They created a network of companies to evade taxes and issued false invoices to reduce VAT on sales. The state paid 15.6 billion HUF for 800 ventilators and 3 million masks from China, leading to over 660 million HUF in damages to the budget. Authorities seized assets worth 1.5 billion HUF and arrested one suspect in Austria, while 11 others were questioned. Investigations are ongoing for budget fraud and money laundering, with additional inquiries into overpricing and misuse of the equipment.
