Students PISO Tienen build wheelchair to turn into mini-ambulance for young hospital patients
Students from the Provincial Institute for Secondary Education (PISO) in Tienen transformed a wheelchair into a mini ambulance for young patients at RZ Tienen. Equipped with a steering wheel and horn, the wheelchair aims to provide a playful experience for children. This initiative stems from a collaboration between the school and the hospital, where students also undertake internships. The project was inspired by hospital staff member Anne Lenaerts, leading students to develop designs and calculations to ensure safety and functionality. Additionally, PISO students created a shopping cart for residents of a local care home, demonstrating the school's commitment to combining technical skills with social responsibility.
