Legislative Elections in Serbia: Serbs Head to the Polls in Pictures
Serbia is holding legislative elections on October 25, which could mark a political turning point. Voter turnout at 10 AM was reported at 20%, double that of the previous election in 2023. The student movement, led by Ilija Srdanovic, has campaigned extensively to address media access issues. The movement was sparked by a tragic incident in November 2024, where a concrete canopy collapse at Novi Sad station killed sixteen people, igniting public anger against the nationalist regime of Aleksandar Vucic. Vucic, unable to run for a third presidential term, resigned on September 27 and called for these early elections to maintain power as prime minister.
