Georgescu could have searched for listening devices, a new procedure has been initiated against the former Romanian presidential candidate

Călin Georgescu, a former Romanian presidential candidate, is under investigation for allegedly attempting to disable surveillance devices in his home. The Romanian anti-organized crime agency (DIICOT) has initiated proceedings for illegal operations involving IT equipment. Two searches were conducted, and Georgescu was taken in for questioning along with an alleged accomplice. Previously, he faced charges for disseminating fascist propaganda and causing financial harm to a businessman. Georgescu gained attention for winning the first round of the presidential election in 2024, although the result was annulled by the Constitutional Court due to foreign interference concerns.
