The operating license of the Serbian oil company targeted by Mol is expiring, they are again requesting an extension from the USA.

The Serbian Oil Industry (NIS) has requested an extension of its operating license from the U.S. as its current license expires on October 30. This company is under U.S. sanctions due to Russian majority ownership, and negotiations are ongoing regarding the sale of this stake. MOL Group has reached a preliminary agreement to acquire a 56.15% stake in NIS from Gazpromneft, pending approvals from U.S. authorities and the Serbian government. Recently, the Serbian government announced an increase in its stake from 30% to 35%. The extension request is seen as a routine step to ensure uninterrupted operations and fuel supply in Serbia, which is crucial for the country's energy security. MOL aims to gain refining capacity and market presence through this acquisition, enhancing its regional influence.
