The barely listened to National Sports Radio will be shut down, saving the public media more than two billion.
The Hungarian public media will save over two billion forints annually by discontinuing the National Sports Radio and continuing the Petőfi Radio with internal production. The National Sports Radio, which had low audience numbers and cost over 400 million forints yearly, will cease operations on October 31. Sports content will now be provided by Kossuth Radio, which will feature a dedicated sports block. The Petőfi Radio's production will transition to MRTV, with its entire staff moving to MRTV's facilities. These changes are part of a broader cost-saving initiative that has already saved over 20 billion forints since July.
