The president of the Bulgarian Taekwondo Federation and former MEP was shot at his home

Slavi Binev, president of the Bulgarian Taekwondo Federation and vice president of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee, was shot dead at his home. The 60-year-old sports leader was also a former MEP and vice president of the European Taekwondo Federation. Police responded to reports of gunfire late Friday and found Binev deceased. Authorities have arrested three suspects, including one Bulgarian and two Turkish nationals. The motive remains unclear, but financial disputes may be involved, as the suspects were previously acquainted with Binev. A taekwondo competition he was set to open with Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev has been canceled. This incident follows the recent murder of prominent businessman Ilijan Filipov in Bulgaria.
