Two suspects in the ventilator procurement case have been arrested
Two suspects have been arrested in connection with ventilator procurement, as requested by the prosecution. One suspect managed the accounting for the company network, while the other allegedly withdrew cash from a foreign company's bank account. The court accepted the investigators' arguments regarding the risk of flight and evidence tampering. In spring 2020, the Hungarian government purchased around 19,000 ventilators, with a significant portion unused and stored. The tax authority reported that the criminal organization contracted for 800 ventilators and 3 million masks, receiving 15.6 billion HUF from the state, causing over 660 million HUF in damages. Part of the profits was transferred to a company registered in the UAE, while the rest was withdrawn in cash.
