Matolcsy György and his associates were arrested

The court spokesperson announced the arrest of former central bank governor György Matolcsy and two associates for economic fraud and document forgery. Matolcsy was detained on Wednesday, and the prosecution requested his arrest based on allegations related to the Pallas Athéné Foundation's dealings. The foundation's assets were allegedly mismanaged to benefit Matolcsy and his son. Matolcsy's lawyer stated that they received extensive documentation regarding the charges and that Matolcsy has not yet made a statement. The court proceedings were held behind closed doors, and Matolcsy spoke for two and a half hours during the hearing.
