Two paramedics were sentenced to prison for intentionally causing injury to their patient, who later died.

The Kecskemét Court sentenced an ambulance worker and a patient transporter from the National Ambulance Service to prison for violence against a community member and assault during public duties. The incident occurred on April 4, 2022, when they were called to assist a patient experiencing choking. During the response, they mocked the patient's ethnicity and caused injury, leading to the patient's death, although the court clarified that their actions were not directly responsible for the death. The first-instance court sentenced the ambulance worker to one year in prison and the transporter to one and a half years. The appeals court suspended the ambulance worker's sentence for four years, while the transporter's sentence remained unchanged.
