The Ministry of Justice met with women's organizations for consultations

On Wednesday, a meeting took place between Dr. Gárdos-Orosz Fruzsina and representatives from women's rights organizations to discuss legal changes needed to combat violence against women. The organizations presented detailed proposals aimed at enhancing women's safety and holding perpetrators accountable. Despite previous attempts to engage with the government, they received little feedback, and some proposals were met with contrary legal solutions. A key focus was on improving the regulation of restraining orders to provide better protection. The ministry indicated ongoing legislative work aligned with the Istanbul Convention, but emphasized that openness must lead to tangible legal changes and results. Women's magazines have united to call for the ratification of the Istanbul Convention, urging the government to act promptly.
