Lieberman supports Eisenkot and facilitates the formation of Government
Avigdor Lieberman, leader of Yisrael Beitenu, announced support for opposition leader Gadi Eisenkot to form a new Israeli government after the elections. This endorsement increases Eisenkot's chances of receiving a mandate from President Isaac Herzog. Yisrael Beitenu's seven seats will strengthen Eisenkot's coalition, which secured 21 seats in the Knesset, six less than Netanyahu's Likud. Lieberman, a prominent political figure, ruled out joining a coalition with Netanyahu and suggested Yair Lapid for Knesset presidency. Herzog will consult with party leaders before appointing someone to form the government, which has 28 days to present a cabinet, extendable by 14 days if necessary.
