Livret A: the ceiling will be raised to "between 25,000 and 30,000 euros", next February, announces Sébastien Lecornu
On November 3, Sébastien Lecornu announced an increase in the Livret A savings account limit to between €25,000 and €30,000 starting in February, up from €22,950. The interest rate will also rise from 1.7% to support climate change adaptation initiatives. Economy Minister Roland Lescure will clarify the new limit after consultations with banks and the Caisse des dépôts. The government aims to mobilize French savings through this popular savings tool, which also funds social housing and infrastructure projects. In September, withdrawals from Livret A exceeded deposits by €1.52 billion, despite a slight increase in interest rates. A coalition of left-wing officials and organizations has called for the withdrawal of a government plan to use regulated savings for new nuclear reactors, fearing it could undermine social housing funding.
