Lommel revises taxes on second homes and simultaneously reforms the entire tourism regulation

The city of Lommel is reforming taxes on second homes, raising the tax to €1,500 per property. A new regulation for annual guests at campsites will charge €600 per year per pitch. This follows previous announcements of a higher tax that caused unrest among local tourism stakeholders. The city aims to encourage property owners to offer homes for rent or sale to address housing shortages. Additionally, taxes for hotels and B&Bs will be introduced at €175 per room, while outdoor accommodations will incur a €50 fee per pitch. The city is still in discussions with the tourism sector regarding these changes.
