The Tax Inspectors denounce the "institutional deterioration" and the neglect of public services
Ana de la Herrán Piñar, president of the IHE, criticized the institutional deterioration affecting various sectors, including tax administration. During the XXVI Congress of Tax Inspectors in Toledo, she expressed disappointment over the absence of the Minister of Finance, Arcadi España, who canceled due to a recent crisis. De la Herrán emphasized the need for public servants to be prioritized over temporary politicians and highlighted the low morale among staff. She opposed proposed changes to the inspector access process, arguing they undermine the profession's integrity. Jesús Gascón, Secretary of State for Finance, defended the independence of public servants and discussed the importance of maintaining a unified tax administration while ensuring technical standards in inspector qualifications.
