The airport in Riyadh resumes operations despite Houthi threats
King Khalid Airport was closed following a rocket attack by Houthi rebels on October 10, resulting in 13 deaths and over 300 injuries. This attack marked one of the deadliest incidents in Saudi Arabia in recent years. The airport partially resumed operations on October 17, with airlines needing approval from the Saudi Civil Aviation Authority for each flight. Starting Sunday, Terminal 1 will handle domestic flights, while Terminal 2 will manage international flights by local carriers. Houthi rebels have warned that the airport remains a military target and advised against its use. They have also claimed attacks on other airports and Saudi oil infrastructure, although no damage has been reported by Saudi authorities. The conflict has escalated since the resumption of hostilities in Yemen, with daily exchanges of fire between the Houthis and the Saudi-led coalition.
