Hungarian factories: from assembly lines to world-class developments (x)
After the 2008 crisis, Hungary shifted its economic policy towards a blue-collar workforce-based reindustrialization model, aiming to become a major manufacturing hub in Europe. Between 2010 and 2020, nominal GDP rose significantly, and employment approached 4.5 million, with the industrial sector contributing a substantial share to GDP. Despite challenges, including a reliance on foreign technology, Hungary attracted foreign investment, leading to the establishment of major factories like Mercedes-Benz and Audi. The country also saw advancements in key sectors such as pharmaceuticals and electronics, with notable companies achieving global success. The 2010s investments resulted in modern factories utilizing advanced technologies, which will be showcased during the upcoming Modern Factories Night event.
