Péter Magyar: Power cannot further conceal the past
A Hungarian official stated that successive governments have sabotaged the release of agent files since the regime change, using the documents for political manipulation. He emphasized that the current decision addresses a 36-year debt to victims and their families. He acknowledged that the documents to be released this week will be incomplete due to records destroyed in 1956 and during the regime change. Nevertheless, he stressed that the lack of complete data should not justify further concealment of the past by those in power.
