Péter Magyar: The government proposes significant restrictions on the use of electric scooters
The Hungarian government proposes stricter regulations for electric scooters following extensive consultations. Prime Minister Péter Magyar announced this on Facebook, promising more details later. The Ministry of Transport released a survey on July 16 to gather public opinions on traffic safety improvements, including penalties for repeat offenders and speed measurement. Over 340,000 people participated in the survey. Minister Dávid Vitézy mentioned plans to set a minimum age for scooter use, citing a significant increase in personal injury accidents involving e-scooters from 367 to 635 between 2024 and 2025.
