Hungary is once again a full participant in the Erasmus+ program
Roxana Minzatu, Vice-President of the European Commission, visited Budapest to announce the full reinstatement of the Erasmus+ program for Hungary. During her visit, she discussed education, workers' rights, and equal pay with local officials. The program's return follows the EU Council's decision to lift protective measures imposed on Hungary in 2022. This allows Hungarian students and universities to access international opportunities again. Minzatu emphasized the importance of full participation in Erasmus+ for all EU member states. The first student exchanges are expected to resume in the 2026/2027 academic year, with some mobility forms starting earlier. Since Hungary joined the program, over 300,000 Hungarians have participated in international mobility, including 80,000 university students.
