MAI: PSP will act "in anticipation" of the protests
The Minister of Internal Administration, Luís Neves, stated that the PSP will act proactively during housing protests, emphasizing that no government member condones violence. He highlighted the autonomy of security forces to prevent escalation. Protests for housing rights began in Porto on October 10, with around 1,500 participants camping overnight. Following a violent police intervention on October 15, which injured 39 protesters, the movement spread to Lisbon. Authorities removed tents and detained 55 individuals for disobedience. New assemblies took place in various cities, including Coimbra and Braga.
