More than 1.6 million people vaccinated against the flu

Since September 30, over 1.6 million people have been vaccinated against the flu in Portugal, with around 810,000 receiving vaccines at participating pharmacies. The latest report from the Directorate-General of Health (DGS) indicates that 1,659,314 flu vaccinations were administered, primarily to individuals aged 60 and older, who received 1,399,905 doses. The National Health Service (SNS) acquired approximately 2.3 million standard doses and 369,000 high-dose vaccines for this campaign, which now includes free vaccinations for children aged 2 to 4. In contrast, less than 738,000 people have received COVID-19 booster shots, with a significantly lower vaccination coverage among those over 60. The seasonal vaccination campaign features around 3,500 vaccination points, including over 2,550 pharmacies, which are compensated for each vaccine administered.
