More than 2.6 million Mozambicans exposed to protection risks - report
Over 2.6 million Mozambicans face protection risks amid a humanitarian crisis, with 66.3% of the affected population exposed. The Global Protection Update report highlights that 53% of assessed districts are critical hotspots, particularly in Cabo Delgado, where armed insurgency persists. These areas experience an average of 9.7 severe risks, including restrictions on movement, forced displacement, and gender-based violence. The report emphasizes the worsening protection environment globally and the impact of reduced humanitarian funding on organizations' ability to assist vulnerable populations. Despite challenges, humanitarian efforts have reached over 436,000 individuals with protection services.
