More than 300 people cannot enter sports venues

The Secretary of State for Internal Administration reported that by August 2026, 344 individuals have been banned from sports venues, with 288 having been convicted. This announcement was made during the S4 International Congress on Safety and Security at Sports Events in Viseu. The use of pyrotechnics is a major reason for these bans, alongside challenges such as rival fan reactions. The government is also considering regulations on alcohol entry into sports venues, following a pilot project. Additionally, managing borders is highlighted as crucial for national and EU security, especially with the 2030 World Cup approaching.
