More than half do not save for retirement

A study by ASF reveals that 55% of the Portuguese population is not actively saving for retirement, primarily due to insufficient financial resources. While 45% are preparing financially, only 28% have long-term savings products. Young adults show higher financial knowledge but limited participation in retirement savings. Many recognize the importance of saving, yet this awareness does not translate into consistent saving behaviors. The reliance on the public pension system remains strong, with many expressing intentions to save in the future. Among retirees, a significant portion regrets not saving more, highlighting the need for better financial planning.
