Budget maneuver, a new six-month postponement for Sugar and Plastic tax is coming
The Italian government is set to postpone the implementation of the Plastic and Sugar taxes for another six months, now scheduled for July 2027. Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani confirmed this delay, emphasizing the need for further discussions on the matter. The taxes, initially introduced in 2020 to discourage sugary drinks and single-use plastics, have faced multiple postponements, with this being the ninth. Industry associations have called for a permanent cancellation of these taxes, citing ongoing uncertainty for businesses. Additionally, Tajani mentioned potential measures for the revaluation of business assets, aiming to support companies amid financial constraints.
