The new budget law doubles the maximum stake and winnings for slot machines, increasing the stake from one to two euros and winnings from 100 to 200 euros. Starting January 1, 2027, the single tax rate will be set at 25% for slots and 9.6% for other gaming machines, with a reduced rate of 20% for slots returning at least 70% of played amounts. Additionally, the law addresses a 2015 dispute regarding a 500 million euro extraordinary contribution, with 89.47 million still outstanding. Operators who drop ongoing lawsuits can benefit from a debt settlement with discounts up to 17.85 million euros and exemption from interest payments.
