Spanish train drivers maintain strike at Renfe

The Spanish Railway Drivers Union (Semaf) has decided to proceed with a strike on Thursday in response to a recent train collision in Toledo that resulted in at least 68 fatalities. The union emphasizes the need for improved railway safety and adherence to previously established commitments. They are also considering further actions to enhance safety measures. The strike involves around 6,000 workers from Renfe and is a reaction to stalled negotiations regarding safety protocols and staffing issues. Renfe argues that some demands exceed its authority and claims to have fulfilled its obligations from previous agreements. The Spanish Ministry of Transport has set minimum service levels to mitigate the impact of the strike.
