Only three more sleeps until the agent files are public, but "you shouldn't believe everything from a dictatorship's state security agency"
Cseh Gergő Bendegúz, director of the Historical Archives of State Security Services, emphasized the need for careful interpretation of agent files. Starting November 4, thousands of former agents' names will be publicly accessible on a dedicated website. Initially, three types of documents will be available for free viewing, including personal data and operational details of agents. A more comprehensive document type, the B-file, will be released by February 25, containing detailed accounts of agents' activities. Bendegúz cautioned that the authenticity of these documents may be questionable and incomplete, urging critical examination of the information. The archives aim to preserve and make historical documents accessible, while also highlighting the need for mental health professionals to assist in processing the emotional implications of this information.
