Obesity Drug Market: Wegovy Arrives in Tablet Form in French Pharmacies

Wegovy, an anti-obesity medication, will be available in pill form in France starting November 2, 2026. This marks the first oral GLP-1 drug in the country, aimed at adults with obesity or overweight issues. Currently, it is not covered by health insurance, costing between 169 and 235 euros monthly. Novo Nordisk emphasizes that the pill complements existing injectable treatments, providing additional therapeutic options. Eli Lilly's oral treatment, Foundayo, is also entering the market, with both companies competing for a growing anti-obesity market projected to exceed $100 billion by 2030. Future developments include new generation treatments to enhance efficacy and tolerance.
