Morocco ignores family reunification requests for minors arriving in Ceuta

The Moroccan government has not responded to 63 family reunification requests for minors who arrived in Ceuta, while 114 children have been reunited with relatives in Spain. The situation reflects a dual approach to the migration crisis, with adult migrants returning voluntarily to Morocco, totaling 13,101 since August 10. In contrast, the number of unaccompanied minors in Ceuta has surged to 3,390, overwhelming local facilities. The Spanish government is preparing to begin deportations of migrants who opted for shelter instead of returning home, with the first returns expected by November 20. The handling of minors remains contentious, as Ceuta's government insists on their return to Morocco to avoid attracting more migrants. Despite legal obligations to accommodate minors, the lack of cooperation from Morocco complicates the situation further.
