Matolcsy offered "all his savings" in court to avoid pre-trial detention

On Friday afternoon, the court ordered the detention of György Matolcsy, the former central bank governor, for 30 days. Despite attempts to negotiate bail, which he offered using all his savings, the judge rejected the proposal. Matolcsy's lawyer confirmed the bail offer but did not disclose the amount. Additionally, the court also ordered the detention of Tamás Sándor and Mihály Valkó due to risks of evidence tampering and flight. The suspects did not confess but made remarks regarding the proceedings, with Matolcsy speaking for two and a half hours in court.
