The participants of the asset recovery deal reversed by Mihály Varga have gotten into trouble along with György Matolcsy.

On February 28, 2025, Mihály Valkó and Tamás Zoltán Sándor signed a contract that would lead to significant legal troubles over a year later. This contract was linked to an attempt by former central bank governor György Matolcsy to transfer the oversight of the Pallas Athéné Foundation's assets to his son, Ádám, just before his departure. Matolcsy was arrested on October 21 for serious economic fraud, while an international arrest warrant was issued for his son due to similar charges. The prosecution is focusing on this asset transfer attempt, which is considered a key part of the broader MNB case, often referred to as the largest bank robbery in Hungary.
