Matolcsy's official asset declaration does not answer how he could have ended his career at the MNB with only 19 million forints.

Following the arrest of former Hungarian National Bank president György Matolcsy, it was revealed that he offered all his savings as bail, amounting to only 30 million HUF. Despite earning significant sums during his 12-year tenure, including a severance payment of 190 million HUF, his declared savings dwindled to 19 million HUF. His income reportedly increased over the years, reaching over 7 million HUF monthly by the end of his term. However, two properties and a substantial portion of his previously declared savings have disappeared from his asset declarations, raising questions about the fate of his earnings, which totaled at least 1 billion HUF since 2013.
