Together with Matolcsy, the head of Quartz Asset Management was dismissed, and the MNB appointed a supervisory commissioner in his place.
The Hungarian National Bank appointed a supervisory trustee for Quartz Investment Fund Management Ltd. due to the CEO's inability to perform his duties following his arrest. Valkó Mihály, the CEO, was detained alongside Matolcsy György, raising concerns about the company's legal operations and investment decisions. The Financial Stability and Liquidation Ltd. will take over supervisory responsibilities. According to regulations, fund managers must continuously fulfill their legal obligations, particularly regarding investment decisions. The supervisory trustee will now exercise the rights and obligations of the CEO. Valkó and Stofa György previously signed a controversial loan agreement linked to a private equity fund associated with Matolcsy Ádám, which transferred a significant subsidiary of the MNB foundation's asset manager. This transaction occurred on Matolcsy György's last day as central bank governor, with a termination agreement reached shortly after.
