Mechelen helps make apartments more energy-efficient with renovation plan: "Deciding with 10 owners is not simple"
In Mechelen, co-owners of medium-sized apartment buildings can now create renovation plans to improve energy efficiency. Many buildings do not meet current energy standards, with two-thirds built before 1980. The city offers plans for buildings with 7 to 15 units, focusing on necessary technical upgrades. The initiative aims to align the diverse priorities of co-owners regarding renovations. The plan costs 250 euros per unit, with the city covering half of the study costs through a European project. An information session will be held to discuss the initiative, emphasizing the importance of supporting apartment residents in the energy transition.
