Doctors criticize the response to problems in emergency services
The Order of Doctors expressed concern over a recent Ministry of Health directive that reallocates internal emergency physicians to external emergencies, potentially compromising care for hospitalized patients. They criticized the decision for lacking proper consultation and planning, emphasizing that it could worsen existing issues in hospitals. The directive aims to address staffing shortages during peak times but risks undermining the care of already vulnerable patients. The Independent Doctors' Union also voiced strong objections, stating that internal emergency doctors should not be treated as a backup for external teams, which could jeopardize patient safety. Hospital administrations must adapt their procedures to comply with the new rules within 60 days.
