It will still take time for an international arrest warrant to be issued against Ádám Matolcsy

On Wednesday, an arrest warrant was issued for Ádám Matolcsy, son of György Matolcsy, alongside György Stofa. The Central Investigation Prosecutor's Office initiated an international arrest warrant, indicating that neither individual is believed to be within the European Union. The spokesperson for the Budapest Court explained that the difference between European and international warrants lies in the involvement of diplomacy and politics in the latter. If the court approves the warrant, it will be sent to the Ministry of Justice and the International Criminal Cooperation Center for inclusion in international databases. The extradition process is not automatic and depends on the legal classification of the alleged crime in both the issuing and executing countries. Until the international warrant is active, Matolcsy and Stofa can move relatively freely abroad, but their entry into Hungary would trigger immediate police action due to the national arrest warrant.
