Mega operation in Vught: monumental station building is being lifted and moved
The monumental train station building in Vught is being lifted and moved 13.6 meters to make way for a fourth track. Weighing 720 tons, the building will be relocated in seven hours, preserving its historical value. This move is part of a broader initiative to increase train frequency on busy routes by 2030. The operation involves lifting the building and placing a concrete structure underneath, allowing it to slide to its new location. The station has historical significance from World War II, serving as a transit point for prisoners. A viewing area is available for the public to observe the relocation process.
