The Hungarian economy felt the summer drought: GDP grew by only 1.5 percent in the third quarter

In the third quarter of 2026, Hungary's GDP grew by 1.5% compared to the same period in 2025, according to the Central Statistical Office. The growth was attributed mainly to the industrial sector, while agriculture negatively impacted the overall performance due to adverse weather conditions. Analysts had anticipated higher growth rates, but the actual figures fell short of expectations. The manufacturing sector, particularly automotive and electronics, showed promise for future growth. Looking ahead, the government expects GDP growth to remain below 2% for 2026, with potential improvements in investments and EU funding in 2027.
