The residents of Oleski have arrived in Belarus, who were able to be evacuated due to the humanitarian ceasefire negotiated by Melania Trump.

Residents evacuated from Oleski, Ukraine, have arrived in Gomel, Belarus, and are expected to return to Ukraine today. The evacuation occurred during a local ceasefire facilitated by Melania Trump. The ceasefire allowed for the demining of evacuation routes, with a convoy of 25 buses transporting 750 people. Many chose to remain in Oleski despite severe destruction and lack of utilities. The evacuees had to pass through Russian-occupied areas before reaching Belarus. Ukrainian human rights ombudsman Dmitro Lubinec accompanied them, marking the first visit by a Ukrainian official to Russian-occupied territories since the war began. Russia announced it prepared aid for residents who chose not to evacuate.
