The 1st block of the Paks Nuclear Power Plant is operating at half capacity due to a malfunction.

The first block of the Paks Nuclear Power Plant is currently operating at 50% capacity due to a generator protection incident that occurred on Wednesday morning. The low water levels of the Danube have also posed challenges for the plant's operations in recent months. Despite the lowest recorded water level on October 13, a newly constructed threshold helped raise the water level by 61 centimeters, preventing production limitations. However, seven out of eight turbines had to be shut down during the summer due to insufficient cooling water. The connection between the recent turbine failure and the Danube's water level has not been reported by the plant.
