The law amending the 2026 budget has been published

The Hungarian government has modified the 2026 budget, increasing expenditures and adjusting revenue and deficit figures to reflect actual economic conditions. The new budget sets expenditures at 49,025 billion HUF and revenues at 41,915 billion HUF, resulting in a deficit of 7,110 billion HUF. The GDP deficit target has been raised to 7.5% from the previously planned 3.7%, while economic growth is now projected at 2% instead of 4.1%. The Ministry of Finance faces challenges in reducing the deficit while fulfilling election promises, requiring creative budgetary measures.
