They will begin the renovation of the railway line where a man in a snail costume outran the train

The renovation of the Mátészalka–Debrecen railway line is set to begin, with construction already starting on sections near Debrecen. Minister Vitézy Dávid announced plans to upgrade the track for speeds of 160 km/h between Debrecen and Apafa, while further developments are planned between Apafa and Mátészalka. The project aims to reduce travel time between Mátészalka and Debrecen from approximately 1 hour 40 minutes to 1 hour 20 minutes. The old diesel trains will be replaced with modern low-floor motor trains. Previously, speed restrictions on this line led to a notable incident in 2018 where an activist ran alongside a train dressed as a snail.
