Real estate agents were threatened after the government's announcement

Interest in real estate surged following the government's announcement regarding the Otthon Start program. The Duna House reported that many expected the program to last until year-end, but the 3% loan is only available for contracts signed by October 31, with applications due by November 15. This has led to an estimated increase of 1,000 to 2,000 transactions nationwide this week. Buyers are focusing on properties that can be sold immediately, with clear ownership and compliant conditions. The total loan amount from the program could reach 2,500 billion HUF by mid-November, making it potentially the most sought-after Hungarian housing loan ever. Since its launch in September 2025, contracts worth 2,045 billion HUF have been signed by August 2023, significantly increasing the share of supported loans in the housing market.
