The National Assembly elected Péter Fejes as the Chief Prosecutor
Péter Fejes was elected as the chief prosecutor by the Hungarian Parliament with 139 votes in favor. Following the vote, he took an oath. The parliament will also vote on the second candidate for the presidency. President András Baka nominated Fejes after the first candidate was rejected due to family ties to a suspect. Baka emphasized the need for a leader who understands the professional and human aspects of the office. In an interview, Fejes acknowledged the need for changes within the prosecution, despite maintaining faith in the institution. He mentioned reviewing past decisions and potentially reopening cases if new evidence arises.
