Automobile market grows 9.8% until October

The Portuguese automotive market saw a 9.9% increase in new vehicle registrations up to October 2026, totaling 241,293 vehicles. In October alone, 20,367 vehicles were registered, marking a 2.4% rise compared to October 2025. Passenger car registrations accounted for 205,507 units, up 9.5% year-on-year, with 77.5% of new passenger vehicles being electric or hybrid. The light commercial vehicle segment grew by 10.4% to 28,315 units, while heavy vehicle registrations reached 7,471, a 19.6% increase. However, heavy vehicle registrations dropped by 46.6% in October compared to the previous year.
