Even without expansion, Lisbon will have a new control tower

NAV will proceed with the construction of a new control tower at Lisbon's Humberto Delgado Airport without waiting for environmental assessments related to airport capacity expansion. The investment, valued at 35 million euros, aims to enhance operational capacity and is expected to be completed by 2030. The new tower will be nearly double the height of the current one and will be relocated to the east. Despite skepticism regarding environmental approvals, NAV's president asserts that the tower's construction is independent of the airport's capacity increase plans. The project is part of broader improvements at the airport, including a 300 million euro investment to expand passenger terminal capacity.
