Lisbon Metro completes rehabilitation of Praça de Espanha station preserving original design
The Praça de Espanha metro station rehabilitation has been completed, enhancing accessibility while preserving its original architectural features. The project, which began on July 13, included the complete replacement of flooring and installation of two new elevators to improve access for people with reduced mobility. Opened in 1959, the station plays a crucial role in Lisbon's mobility, serving a densely populated area with various services and cultural institutions. The renovation took three and a half months, during which the station remained operational with necessary adjustments for passenger safety. The completion of this project aligns with the Lisbon Metro's strategy to modernize and enhance existing stations, aiming for improved service quality and sustainability in urban mobility.
