Mexico: world's tallest Catrina unveiled for Día de Muertos in Mexico City

A monumental female skeleton, taller than an 11-storey building, has set a new record at 28.15 meters, surpassing the previous record. Created by 140 artists from Taller Xibalbá, the figure is adorned in a purple dress over 27 meters long and is part of a large ofrenda honoring the dead. This installation, facing the Metropolitan Cathedral, features around 70,000 marigold plants and pays homage to artist José Guadalupe Posada, known for his skeletal illustrations. The display includes colorful sawdust carpets and figures inspired by Mexican folklore. The Catrina will be showcased until November 2, coinciding with the Day of the Dead celebrations.
